Short version: no accounts, no database, and your writing stays in your browser unless you press an AI button.
Rule checks run on your device
The APA, MLA, Chicago and AP checks, citation validation, tone, readability, passive voice, sentence variety and title case tools all run as JavaScript in your browser. The text you paste is not sent to a server for these checks.
What is saved in your browser
To stop you losing work on a reload, the site keeps your most recent text in each tool, and any phrases you save in the phrasebank, in your browser’s localStorage under keys starting with as:. It never leaves your device and is not readable by us. Each tool has a Clear button, or remove everything here:

AI features
When you press an AI button (AI style review, Fix entries with AI, Rewrite formally), the text shown in that tool is sent to our server and on to a language model through Vercel AI Gateway to generate the answer. We do not store the text or the answer, and we do not use it to train models. Standard, short-lived server logs may record that a request happened (time, status), not its content. A simple per-visitor rate limit uses your IP address in memory only.
Analytics
We use Ahrefs Web Analytics to count page views. It is cookieless and does not collect personal data or the text you type.
